If you’re wondering which companies are coming to Huntsville, Alabama, there are several names worth watching: Eli Lilly and Company, Glaukos Corporation, SPX Enterprises, Blue Origin, Redwire, and L3Harris Technologies. Their announced projects include new pharmaceutical and manufacturing facilities, along with expansions in aerospace and defense.
For people considering a move to North Alabama, these announcements raise another question: Where should you live when your next job brings you to the Huntsville and North Alabama area?
Here’s a look at the companies investing here and what to consider as you plan your move.
Eli Lilly and Company: A Major New Huntsville Manufacturing Facility
Eli Lilly and Company announced plans to invest more than $6 billion in a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Huntsville. The project is expected to create 450 permanent positions, including engineers, scientists, operations personnel, and laboratory technicians, plus approximately 3,000 construction jobs. Lilly’s announcement projected construction beginning in 2026 and completion in 2032.
The City of Huntsville identifies the planned campus location as Greenbrier Parkway and Interstate 565 in west Huntsville.
If you’re relocating for an Eli Lilly position, your exact work location and schedule should guide your home search. Comparing homes in Madison, Athens, and West Huntsville can be a useful starting point, followed by checking the actual commute from each property.
Because this is a multiyear project, an announced job total should not be confused with positions available immediately.
Glaukos Corporation: Bringing Eye-Care Innovation to Cummings Research Park
Glaukos Corporation, a pharmaceutical and medical technology company focused on eye disease treatments, broke ground on its new Huntsville research and manufacturing campus in September 2025.
The City of Huntsville reported an $82 million investment and 154 full-time jobs by 2030 for the project in Cummings Research Park.
For employees moving to Huntsville for Glaukos, comparing homes around West Huntsville and Madison may help narrow the search. From there, the right choice depends on your budget, preferred home style, and daily travel needs.
SPX Enterprises: A New Manufacturing Facility in the Greenbrier Area
SPX Enterprises is developing a $118 million production facility west of County Line Road in the Greenbrier area. The facility will manufacture large-scale cooling and air-handling equipment for data centers.
According to the City of Huntsville’s January 2026 announcement, the planned 460,000-square-foot facility is expected to create 350 jobs.
If your move is connected to SPX, confirm the facility entrance and your expected shift before choosing a home. A property’s distance on a map tells only part of the story; the route you drive every day matters just as much.
Blue Origin: Expanding Its Huntsville Operations
Blue Origin already operates in Huntsville and is expanding its local presence. In January 2026, the City announced a $71.4 million investment involving operations in Cummings Research Park and Jetplex Industrial Park, with 105 additional jobs planned. The expansion will establish Alabama as home to the company’s thruster production.
For buyers relocating for Blue Origin, confirming which site you will report to is an important first step. Different work locations can lead to different choices about where to buy.
Redwire: Growing at Jetplex Industrial Park
Redwire Corporation announced a major Huntsville expansion in July 2026, adding 164,000 square feet to its local footprint.
The project is expected to create approximately 150 new jobs in engineering, manufacturing, integration, and technical operations. The announcement reported construction underway, with building completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2027.
Employees moving for Redwire can begin their home search by comparing commute routes to Jetplex Industrial Park, then weighing the features that matter most: an established neighborhood, new construction, a larger yard, or space for a home office.
L3Harris Technologies: Expanding Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing
L3Harris Technologies is another established Huntsville employer growing its operations. In June 2026, the company announced a $25 million expansion of its Advanced Manufacturing Facility-South, adding 130,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
The announcement also identified hiring needs in engineering, quality, and skilled trades.
As with other employers operating across multiple sites, buyers should confirm their reporting location before deciding which communities to focus on.
What Does Huntsville’s Business Growth Mean for Real Estate?
New facilities and employer expansions can bring relocating workers, construction activity, and additional interest in housing. However, these announcements alone do not tell us how quickly homes will sell or how much prices will change.
For buyers, the best starting point is your budget, job timeline, and actual commute.
For sellers, employer growth provides useful context, but pricing should still reflect recent comparable sales, competing listings, and your home’s condition.
Whether you’re moving to Huntsville for Eli Lilly, Glaukos, SPX, Blue Origin, Redwire, L3Harris, or another employer, choosing a home means finding the right fit for your everyday life.
